Australian Standards

All poles are individually designed to Australian Standards to ensure that the lateral linear deflection and torsional rotation of the pole are limited to suit the serviceability requirements of the communications equipment. Consequently, the rotation of the axes of unidirectional transmitting or receiving equipment from their principal directions will not exceed half of the beam width or the client’s specified parameters.

Custom Design

These poles are designed and manufactured as tapered octagonal, dodecagonal or hexadecagonal. Poles can be manufactured as Fixed or Mid-Hinged configurations. Mid-hinged designs allow easy access for maintenance of the communication equipment.

Fixed poles can be supplied with a full Fall Arrest Climbing System which includes climbing rungs that have been engineered and load tested to meet Australian Standards. Please see our Safety Climb System section in our Accessories section for further details. Poles also have secure access doors to mount controlling equipment in compartments at the base of the pole.

Pole Accessories

All poles can be supplied complete with equipment attachments and brackets to suit client-specific requirements. Special bracket attachments in single or multiple arrangements can be manufactured to suit all types of equipment. To enable fine-tuning of the equipment, both on a horizontal or vertical plane and for mounting at any height along the pole, G&S produces fully adjustable clamp-on bracket/arm arrangements. When the dimension of the existing pole is unknown, these brackets can also be supplied in a chain link arrangement to allow versatility in mounting to any size and shape of pole. Please see our Pole Mounted Brackets section in our Accessories section for further details.

These poles can also have Cable Access Doors installed at intervals and at the top of the pole to gain access to the internal cabling and to allow cables to exit the pole to terminate to the communications equipment. Removable doors can also be provided along the pole for cable fastening, access, and inspection. These doors have a slot that is specifically designed to suit the applicable cable bending radius. This will ensure the cables are not damaged or kinked. Earthing holes or studs can be located adjacent to each door for the provision of earthing each individual antenna. These cable access doors have internal steel cable support rods to take the weight of the internal cabling. Please see Cable Access Doors in our Accessories section for further details.

All poles can be manufactured to incorporate Lightning Arrestor protection and earthing requirements. Please see our Pole Earthing Protection section of our Accessories section for further details.

At the top of the pole, a special Antenna Spigot is usually attached. This Spigot comes complete with a cable access door with a slot opening, and a catenary cabling hook for supporting the weight of the cabling. Please our Antenna Spigots and Brackets section in our Accessories section for further details.

FAQs

Communication poles can be custom designed to support any type of communication requirement. Examples include various types of antennas such as parabolic dishes, yagi’s, dipoles, grid pack antennas, wifi antennas, collinear antennas, whip antennas, and various other types of arrays. These poles are designed to be rigid to minimise deflection to facilitate the operational serviceability of the equipment they carry.

Communication poles can be in a fixed or mid-hinged configuration. For fixed configurations, they can be supplied with a Ladsafe climbing system which comprises a ladder, climbing rungs, and a safety climb cable to attach to.

We supply poles in all sizes and are made bespoke to suit your project requirements. Pole heights generally range between 4m and 40m.

By using cable access doors to the pole, you can easily access the internal cabling. At G&S Industries we also manufacture cable access doors in custom sizes to fit the different access points you may require along the length of the pole. These doors come complete with an internal cable support rod to support the weight of the cable internally so as not to damage the communications cable.
