G&S Industries' Slipbase Columns are a safety product designed to reduce the impact of collisions on major roads.
These columns are built to take a special "Slipbase" baseplate. When impact from a vehicle occurs , the Slipbase allows the column to break away from the fixed base section travelling in an upwards direction. This allows the vehicle to pass underneath the column and eliminates the chance of serious injury to the vehicle's passengers. This system is most suited to major roads with few pedestrians where the risk of a secondary accident occurring as a result of the fallen column is negligible.
The Slipbase consists of a two disc system which converts a four bolt foundation to a three equally spaced bolt adaptor. The column is attached to the Slipbase with a shear plate that releases during impact , resulting in minimal damage to the impacting vehicle.
G&S Industries' Slipbase Columns are designed to meet Australian Design Standards with the focus on safety.
These columns are mainly manufactured as Tapered Octagonal in various heights and outreach lengths , however we have supplied them as Architectural Decorative Columns for various clients including shires. We have also supplied and installed these columns on major freeways as shown.
